Those of you who have been paying attention may have noticed that the Project for the New American Century was the nexus of the Necon movement for the last 10-15 years. It was likely responsible for the Presidency of George W. Bush and the second Iraq war. It embraced the bad ideas of conservatism and took them to their logical extremes. It was like giving bad acid and an automatic weapon to Charlie Manson and letting him go in a school yard.
I am very happy to report that the the Project for the New American Century seem to have gone away. It has failed. At least their web site is gone for lack of payment to the service provider. Nobody answers the phone. They are kaput.
Perhaps they have self-destructed. Perhaps they drank bad Kool-Aid. Perhaps they are looking for a place to hide after Bush leaves office.
In any event, the little experiment killed over 4,000 Americans, tens of thousands of Iraqis, and nearly bankrupted the USA.
The ambitions proclaimed when the neo-cons' mission statement "The Project for the New American Century" was declared in 1997 have turned into disappointment and recriminations as the crisis in Iraq has grown.
"The Project for the New American Century" has been reduced to a voice-mail box and a ghostly website. A single employee has been left to wrap things up.
Air America is still running http://airamerica.com/ and they pay their IP provider on time. So, they don't get kicked off the web.
Also, I guess you can add that they are not a bunch of chickenhawks starting wars that they don't fight. So, they did advocate policies that killed tens of thousands and lead America into "fiscal mess."
But your recent postings are helpful for their demonstration of your way of looking at the world. The bipolar political view.
That's not bipolar as in DSM-IV-TR. It's bipolar as in heads or tails, this or that, my way or the highway. "You are either with us or against us."
What I like about Senator Obama (and what I liked of the Senator McCain of 8 years ago) is the ability to see and act with with normal vision. I thought Senator Clinton had too much of a reputation of political bipolar disorder. As he has aged Senator McCain has moved into that vein.
Senator Obama is able to see shades of gray, shades and tints of colors, and move freely within that world. In contrast, those with the political bipolar disorder will say they see "flip flops." More importantly, those with political bipolar disorder are severely constrained. Due to fear and profound lack of vision they limit their experiences and actions to the narrow range of black or white that they are willing to accept. That's what killed the Project for the New American Century. That's what makes liberalism and conservatism useless and harmful ideologies. Indeed, that's the critical flaw of almost all ideologies and religions. Those without bipolar disorder will see a full-color three dimensional world and mount reasoned responses to a complex universe. Political bipolar disorder has no nuance. Healthy people have a full range of existence.
Political bipolarism is not a disease of the left or right. It is a flaw in vision that is based upon fear, failure to forgive, and most importantly, ignorance.
