After clicking your State on the handy map scroll down to Upcoming Events and there you are. There is also a handy events map that will help you pinpoint local events nearby, wherever nearby may be.
A house party is a great way to get started. These are not fund raisers. Nobody will ask you for money, so don't bother to bring a checkbook. If you want to donate money or get a t-shirt or bumper stickers (of course you do) then make a contribution online and also visit the Obama online store for your goodies. http://store.barackobama.com/
At your local house party, you will learn how the grassroots organization works and you can select the amount of involvement you want to have with your neighbors to organize your neighborhood. Because the Obama campaign is neighborhood based, you will find that the portion of the county in which you live has been assigned to a specific contact person. If you wish, you can attend specific hands-on training for particular jobs that need to be done between now and the election. Usually a paid Obama staff person and a political intern will be at the house party to answer questions and provide focus to move everything along to the next step. You will also learn that it is easy to have a party at your own house to invite your friends and neighbors.
___________
There is also an excellent MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/barackobama The map there will take you to your State, where you can get up to speed on what's up in your area.
_________
This will not be a waste of time. For example, when I did neighborhood door-to-door canvasing for the Kerry campaign (only one weekend) in the last election, the whole process was a mess and I was sent off 30 miles away from my home to do cold calls from ancient address lists to ask people I did not know to go vote. It wasn't pretty. In contrast, the data systems set up for such activities in the Obama campaign are modern, efficient, accurate, and actually quite elegant. You will be happy to not be wasting any of your time. You will be trained by professionals to make sure you are effective and empowered.
Time is of the essence in several ways. First, we don't want to show up to volunteer and then stand around like a bunch of penguins wondering where the fish are. So, when you show up, things will actually happen. You will be given a clear pathway to real involvement. Second, there are 85 days to the election, if you procrastinate it will be too late. This is not something that you can do on November 5th. Effort now is just as valuable now as it will be the week before the election, if not more so. Third, everything you do will really count. _________________ David Traver

The Obama campaign does have a lot happening. I got a text message this afternoon that Sen. Obama will announce his VP selection by text message between now and the convention.To sign up for the notification, text VP to 62262 from your cell phone.
Where do we go to get his resume and background? Not too long ago he was just a state senator in Illinois, and before that a community organizer, and is in his first term as a US senator. We need a lot of information on this gentleman if he intends to be President of the United States of America.

Well, he's written two autobiographies, and his website (you do have access to the internet, apparently) has tons of info. But in your case, I would guess that you'd prefer to read the upcoming book by a "Swift Boat" author that trashes Sen. Obama. It doesn't have any new information, from what I read, just the usual r*ght wing slander and innuendo.

Thank you for asking for information about Senator Obama's resume and background. I hope you will join me in supporting Senator Obama by voting for him, campaigning, and donating generously to his campaign. You will find a wealth of information about Senator Obama at his official web site. http://www.barackobama.com/index.php You can also make contributions there and purchase bumper stickers, T-shirts, hats, and other attractive items to show your pride in our great candidate.
I noticed the way Senator Obama's education and experience parallel President Lincoln's. Of course, Senator Obama has a better education and more experience than Lincoln did when he became President. I suspect that like Senator Obama, Lincoln's keen intellect and gentle humor became self-evident in his amazing capacity for public speaking. See e.g. http://www.sparknotes.com/biography/lincoln/summary.html and http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/99sep/9909lincoln.htm It is impossible to keep a light like that under a basket.
You might be surprised to learn that the major legal qualifications to be president are as follows:
Quote:
Article Two of the Constitution sets the principal qualifications to be eligible for election as President. A Presidential candidate must:
* be a natural-born citizen of the United States;
* be at least thirty-five years old;
* have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.
Here is a summary of Senator Obama's background in a resume format as you requested. It is from the nice wiki at http://obamasresume.org/ I note that it does not include Senator Obama's excellent publications and it also does not include his charitable work. (I usually include that kind of information on my resume, don't you?)

Wow, he has accomplished a lot of nothing in the last 20 years. Still don't see anything that makes me want fall down on my knees and intrust in him my confidence to lead us through this dangerous period of history. We are in perilous times concerning national security and foreign crises, and we are dependent on oil, foreign or otherwise and will be for a long time. I'm all for alternative energy sources, but in the short run we are dependent on oil, and it's an emergency. Obama and his party better get r*ght on this. So y'all go on and rely on his empty rhetoric, and promises for change. Just hope you don't get short changed. McCain's just playing to him. The country is in trouble.
We Americans don't kneel to anybody. We gave that up when we said goodbye to King George. We stand up for what we believe.
I understand your concerns. The process for selection of a President is archaic and insufficent. I would like to see a complete physical and psychiatric workup on both candidates. It would be great if both of them would make their entire academic records public. I'd like to know where they placed in their classes and why. Have they received psychiatric care? Where, for what? What were the outcomes? It seems to me that a Waukesha County Sheriff's Deputy undergoes more scrutiny to get a badge and a gun than either of these candidates get to become President.
Absent that, Senator Obama has accomplished more, in a shorter time, than anybody I know. What Senator do you know who has such a lovely family, who was the President of Harvard law review, and lectured on law at one of the major Universities in the United States? His accomplishments far exceed Senator McCain's in family values and morality, academic achievement, and in political skill. I find if hard to see what you find so appealing about the old man. Perhaps you find neither to be to your taste?
Senator Obama is better educated, better organized, healthier, more emotionally stable, and more cogent than his opponent. Senator Obama is better prepared to be President than Abraham Lincoln was during his perilous times. If you are going to vote, please vote for Senator Obama.
David, I give up. There is no savior. McCain and Obama do not have the support of their parties, nor do they have the support of the eloctorate. It's a tossup. I think it is a shame, but there is a lot of people that will not vote for Obama because he is black, Hillary and Bill are going to be in there stirring things thing up, and God knows what McCain is gong to do to screw things up.
Last weekend I set up and ran a voter registration site at a large Maxwell Street Days near my home.
Here I am with some friends. In the middle is Michelle, an Obama staffer. On the r*ght is a person who dropped by to say hi. Michelle and I registered more than 15 supporters to join us to vote for Obama in Nov.
Now is a good time to get busy and make a difference. Please join me in volunteering for the Obama campaign.
