A nice acquaintance of mine wrote this interesting analysis. He guesses that:
Quote:
My money is on Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to be Barack Obama's pick for Vice President.
Senator Obama has a news conference scheduled in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday at the same location where he announced his run for the White House.
The Obama/Sebelius ticket will be announced at that event.
That's the conclusion I've drawn after talking with political junkies from sea to shining sea over the past two weeks; including some with connections to the campaign.
Sebelius, I think, is a good pick. She was elected Governor of the State of Kansas in 2003 and was returned to office in 2006.

She is also the daughter of former Ohio Governor John Gilligan, which might help Obama a bit here in Ohio.
I'm still sticking with my Joe Biden prediction, but I'm far less confident about it then I was two days ago.
Here's my favorite story of the day, which combines Joe Biden and VP speculation: For those who have not been paying close attention, the news media has been camped in front of Joe Biden's home for the past week. Today, Biden yelled at a Fox reporter to get the Fox van off of Biden's lawn. The Fox reporter speculates, without a hint of irony, that Biden's snappishness was a result of Biden being told he would not be selected as VP. Apparently the thought never entered the reporter's mind that Senator Biden might have been snappy because a FoxNews van (of all networks) was parked on his lawn.

I'm going to make a wild and crazy guess here and suggest that Olan copied and pasted something by accident. How this Kodak Digital Camera relates to the VP selection...well, even I can't come up with a connection.

The selection, as everyone knows by now, was Joe Biden. Solid and safe. And a bit disappointing, just for that reason. Still, if the most important factor in a VP selection from the voter's perspective is "readiness to assume the job of President," then Joe Biden certainly fits the bill.

My former favorite Biden quote was that the Bush Administration was the Nixon Administration without the competence.
My new favorite Biden quote is, Biden to FoxNews: "Get the car off my grass, pal,"
You have to page up in this thread a bit to find the source of the new quote.
It's hard to beat this one from today's wonderful speech:
Quote:
"Your kitchen table is like mine, you sit there at night after you put the kids to bed and you talk about what you need. That's not a worry John McCain has to worry about. He'll have to figure out which of the seven kitchen tables to sit at."
Delta, that was your most non-responsive and incomprehensible posting to-date. _________________ David Traver

Actually, that was a classic conservative response from Delta. I joust with a conservative in-law on occasion via email, and he pulls the same stunt. Whenever a discussion of Bush comes up, somehow he thinks it makes good sense to reply that Harry Reid's a nerd or that Nancy Pelosi's a something-or-other, as if their personalities were somehow relevant to Bush's performance.
David and Larry, thought the main point was McCain was so rich and owned so much property that he had lost track of it and that put him out of touch with the proletariat. Just pointing out a lot of democrats, including Dame Pelosi and those I mentioned are not in the bread line. Gosh I'm sorry I got out of line, excuse me, but I thought all those people were regarded as not just rich, but extremely wealthy. 8)
Sometimes my lovely friend, your writings are nearly icomprehensible. I'm glad you provided some good clarification to your prior posting.
I find it very worthwhile to have your positions posted here. It is very helpful for all readers to see all points of view expressed. I am happy you take the time to post you points of view, including some strange perspectives that are contrary to the evolved opinions of the great majority of Americans and Connect readers.
We all have our points of view. At some points our lines of sight coincide. There we can find some common ground to move together in the direction of goodness. _________________ David Traver

Thank you David, I suppose some of my views are incomprehensible to you and others of the liberal slant. There is another side however. I try to express it the best I can, and if I fail, it is my own fault. I enjoy the back and forth, let's keep it clean and have fun. 8)

Agree completely. Keeping it fun is an excellent idea.
To return to the rhetorical point, howsomever, Delta's response ("Democrats can be rich, too") was utterly irrelevant to the question of whether or not McCain's very obvious wealth ("darned if I know how many houses I own") would put him out of touch with voters and thus be an issue. Kerry, Kennedy, et. al., aren't running; McCain is.

Subject: Help McCain Remember How Many Mansions He Owns
Watch the video
1. Watch the video
2. Send it to everyone you know
Dear
What a tremendous job you've done with McCain's Mansions! Because of your efforts in spreading, distributing, and supporting this video, the media questioned McCain yesterday about just how many multimillion dollar homes he owns. And just what was McCain's response? "I think - I'll have my staff get to you," he said. "It's condominiums where - I'll have them get to you."
The fact that McCain couldn't remember how many mansions he has proves how elitist and divorced from economic reality he truly is. That's why McCain admitted economics is not his strongest suit, and why he offered a budget plan that would create the largest debt in our country since World War II. That's why he proposed tax hikes on employer-based health care, doesn't know the price of gas, and has no appreciation for the struggles of hard-working Americans facing foreclosure.
This reminds me of when George Bush, Sr. didn't know the price of a carton of milk or how to use a supermarket checkout counter machine. It was a story the media seized because it illustrated just how out of touch a candidate could be on the economy.
And here's your crucial chance to compel the media to turn McCain's gaffe into a similar revelatory moment. Redouble your efforts in spreading McCain's Mansions to everyone you know, regardless of political beliefs. Make sure your local news stations, newspapers, and blogs run it. Make sure people are talking about it around the dinner table and at churches and community centers. Make sure everyone sees for themselves the elitist that is John McCain.
Yours,
Robert Greenwald

That McCain is a cold hearted guy. We really need a guy like Obama to bring us out of the dark ages. He is for change, and when I go to the grocery store, I don't get much back. But he says raising taxes will change that. Obama and Pelosi have a good energy policy, let's not do anything while we wait for renewable and alternative energy sources. In the meantime, our total economy relies on oil. How do you think groceries get to the supermarket? Been on the interstate lately? Those big trucks you curse get them there. What do they run on? Diesel. Who pays for the increase, we do. So get wise, we are a great country, and need to drill in the short run and thumb our noses at the tree huggers and arabs.8)
