I have some important news that I want to make official.
I've chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.
Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.
I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.
Please let Joe know that you're glad he's part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we'll make sure he gets it:

And now from Dick Morris:

HOW THE CLINTONS FINESSED OBAMA
By sulking in his tent, Bill Clinton has finessed Barack Obama into making the biggest mistake of his candidacy failing to name Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as his running mate.
The key to the Clinton game is that they understood, from the beginning, that Obama would not name Hillary to be his VP. They realized that she had far too much baggage and that they came as a package and Bill certainly had too much. They knew that the bad blood between the two camps was such that it was highly unlikely that she would be on the ticket.
That left the Clintons with two objectives:
a. they needed to be sure that no other woman would be nominated; and
b. they had to do what they could to stop Obama from winning
NOW WILL MCCAIN NOMINATE A WOMAN?
To complete the process, John McCain should nominate Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison as his running mate. While he is thought to be leaning toward Mitt Romney, naming a woman would completely pull the rug out from under Obama. After Obama has so ostentatiously declined to run with a woman, for McCain to take one on his ticket would be the height of skill.

It's amazing that anyone pays any attention to the mutterings of Dick Morris. It's astounding that people actually pay him to mutter. Some things are simply beyond comprehension.
As Jon Stewart pointed out...Nothing symbolizes cthat you are a candidate for change like selecting a person with 35 years of experience in the Senate.
Republicans and Democrats that I speak with every day are beginning to point out that the attacks by the McCain campaign are increasingly arbitrary.
For example, Obama is either too black (as in Chicago south-side black) or not black enough. If he mentions race he is "playing the race card." If he does not mention race he is "elitist." (That's the new Republican code word for "uppity.")
Similarly, if Obama had picked a person with little foreign policy experience, such as a certain female governor, he would have been slammed for picking somebody with not enough experience. On the other hand, if he picked an old-dog experienced senator with more credentials than anybody else around, he would be faulted for not picking a "change" candidate.
Likewise, if Obama had picked Hillary, he would have been belittled for picking the "same old Clinton family." Of course we are now seeing McCain ads fault-finding for Obama's choice of anybody but Hillary.
This was repeated last night. Fox criticized Obama roundly for not having a "issue-based" first night of the convention. Had the convention's first day been "issue-based" it would have been criticized for not paying homage to his family and Ted Kennedy.
One conservative commentator criticized Mrs. Obama's speech as "scripted." Of course it's "scripted" laughed one of the other panel members, "Its a speech!" What was Mrs. Obama supposed to do, stand up there and wing it?
Surprisingly, people are catching on. Especially Republicans. They wonder where the meat is in the McCain campaign and why he is running around in these logical circles. They are generally saying with considerable disgust that they won't vote for anybody, they will just stay home on election day. I kindly direct their attention to my candidate and suggest that it is time for a change. I am finding that more often than not they agree. _________________ David Traver

The McCain campaign is frivolous. These are serious times. We need analysis and understanding that moves beyond lapel pins and guilt by association. We are not getting that from the McCain attack machine. Republicans are leaving the party in droves, as well they should. _________________ David Traver
